My long lost son resurfaced this morning from the abyss (his bedroom). He set his alarm to wake up at 8:30, which is amazing considering I have to practically beat him out of bed every day during the summer. He got up, fed himself, walked the dogs with minimal grumbling, then returned to make me breakfast. I was pleasantly stunned. He said I could have anything I wanted and custom-made me an omelet. I did not make it easy. I made sure to take full advantage of having him in the same room as me. It was a real treat to share my morning with him. I rewarded his generosity with a cup of coffee. As your kids age and become teenagers, you'll see why this was such a big deal.

Egg white omelet with diced tomato, jalapeno, cilantro and cheddar/jack cheese.
Told you I didn't make it easy.
