Last Friday at 3 in the morning (ugh) we set out to join Mollie's G.A.T.E. class at the Grand Canyon for a little archeological fun. The drive was long (5 hours each way) and the weather was much colder and far windier than we expected but we're so glad we went along for the field trip. The idea of sending my little girl to the Grand Canyon without parental supervision horrified me. Remember poor little Joe Dirt, in his little "Life's a garden, dig it!" t shirt, left behind by the tour bus at the canyon? No way, not my kid! We thought it best to tag along. Besides, Frank at age 39 had never seen it himself so, why not? The agenda was very specific, archeology, so we didn't get to see too much of the canyon but we did learn a lot about the Tusayan Ruins. We returned to Vegas the same day so needless to say, it was a very long day. The photos are sort of small so click on them to enlarge.

The only guardrail we encountered...yikes.

Checking out the native plants.

Collecting and recording data.

Sifting through the dirt for artifacts.

Posing for a class photo.
