Are you growing that fruit? If I had sun I would! Yesterday I stopped on the road and bought a flat of Louisiana strawberries. By the time I got home the car was full of that wonderful smell. Now who can I get to make Jam? I've never done it. Is it hard to do?
I am and it's not nearly as hard as you'd think, just time consuming and messy. Strawberry is probably the easiest jam to make. Do it, Rose and send me a jar!!
Those berries in the picture will turn a deep black/purple color. The lady from whom we purchased the house planted the bush probably 10 years ago. It produces so many berries considering the size of the bush. She also planted the peach tree, but what she planted was a dwarf nectarine tree. We had great nectarines for about 6 years. A few years ago the tree seemed to split in two and out of the center a full sized peach tree emerged! The tree simultaneously produced both nectarines and peaches for 2 years. This year the peaches seem to have taken over and the nectarine branches are all but dead. Mysterious...
Ok, I got jars and sugar. do I need surejell or something like that? I can make peeking duck (which requires a bicycle pump) but I can't make jam! I need a quick 101 when you get time.
