Yesterday we had the privilege of dining with Aunt Kay and Uncle Gordon. They were in town for a good, old fashioned Vegas wedding and made a little extra time to hook up with us for lunch before leaving town. We so enjoyed their company. The weather was spectacular and we were able to dine outside on the patio and take it all in. What a great day.

...and den...
I finished this scarf yesterday. I made it for a lady I work with. She's going to give it to her daughter for Christmas and will pay me with a dozen homemade tamales that I can take to Mom's on Christmas Eve. I so love the bartering system, especially during the holidays. Trading handmade goods makes my heart swell so much more than store-bought stuff.
and den...
Mollie left me this way awesome note the day after a particularly crummy day. I had to take a picture and post it so that she could erase the note and have her white board back. I wish I could tattoo this message across my body somewhere like some people tattoo scriptures. Simple, heartfelt, brilliant. This is the stuff that makes every big worry in my life seem so trivial. This is what keeps me going through hard times and gets me back on track. Mollie, you are amazing. There aren't enough words to tell you how much you are loved and cherished.
"Hop off a cliff, skid mark"? Priceless.
and den and den and den...
November 14th was Mollie's 11th birthday. I, being the rotten blogger that I am, never got around to posting the pictures or the announcement or nuthin until just now. Good gravy, that's ridiculous. She had a small party with 4 of her closest friends. Molly, Vallen, Allen and Calvin all came to the ice rink for a little uncoordinated fun. It was great getting out there and skating with them. Well, the girls skated while I watched, pointed and laughed as the boys clung for dear life to the wall. I would make a horrible skate instructor. Eventually all of my belittling paid off and the boys graduated to what I can only describe as "ice jogging". So hysterical. Once their little ankles finally gave out, we headed back to the house for bbq and then cake and presents. They all had a great time.
Props to Rose for sending me this great giant cupcake pan. Love it!
Season one of The Office and a craft store gift card? Fred's in heaven.

Jennifer, we had a wonderful time yesterday! Thanks to all of you for driving to "the strip" to see us.
I hope those barterd tamales are great because the scarf is amazing! Her daughter is sure to love it.
Mollie's note to you was indeed priceless. I think I would have had to buy her another dry erase board.
I love you all,
Aunt Kay
I totally almost did just that. i just didn't know how on earth I would preserve the ink.
Jen,that scarf is amazing! You do such beautiful work.
And speaking of amazing and beautiful...Mollie, you are one in a million! You certainly have a way with words, and you seem to know just when to use them to make people's hearts smile. Jen, you and Frank are incredible parents with two amazing kids!
Happy belated birthday Mollie! :)
Happy belated birthday Mollie! I'm glad you liked the cupcake BDCake! And by the way Kay could you age just a little bit in all these blog photos!!!!! You're making me feel bad!!!!!
Thanks for the complement, Rose, but unfortunately, I am getting old and fat and the picture shows it. Oh well!
I am almost ashamed that I knew what movie you were quoting throughout the post. Some of Ashton Kutcher's finest work, if you can call it that.
Nice job on the scarves. Oh and Mollie is a little blonde treasure. You already knew that though.
Psssssst...I have had the hippie box sitting all full-like on the washing machine for way too long. Why the washing machine? I don't know. Why so long? Because I forgot about it. And I am lazy. And I am a bad cousin. It's on it's way today.
I was just thinking about that the other day when I mailed off Cindy's long overdue package. I'm glad you didn't diss our little project. Can't wait to see what's in the hippy box!
