The Second Place Legacy Lives On

Today little Frankie D. took second place in the Las Vegas Am Jam skateboard competition. It's an ongoing monthly contest series that he's been participating in for the last 3 months. So far he's placed 6th, 4th and now, 2nd. You know what that means for mom? My (i mean his) first trophy! Recently he scored a skate shop sponsorship which provides him with free skateboards every month as well as discounts on other much needed merchandise. Skateboarding at this level gets really expensive. Today he was also offered a team sponsorship by a local board company. Things are going pretty great for him right now. When he got home from the contest, he and Frank pulled out Frank's old 2nd place trophy from 1988. They were basically identical. Pretty funny that they still use the same exact short-shorts-wearing little guy for the trophies 20 years later.

Congratulations to Frankie and to his parents who will now have a little more cash in their pockets. It's wonderful to reach the level of competition where you can get sponsorships! Way to go, Frankie!
